When you support Catholic Charities, you help Maine’s most vulnerable populations who are struggling now more than ever —
For Maine’s most vulnerable, the needs are unprecedented. One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, Mainers are suffering in greater numbers than ever. A year of isolation and deprivation has left seniors more anxious and alone, with more families fighting hunger and more Mainers closer to the brink of disaster, just one emergency away from finding themselves in a situation they never thought possible.
For this annual Spring Appeal, we ask you to please consider a donation to one of the three causes where your gift can have
an immediate impact: Senior Services, Hunger & Relief Services, and Emergency Services. They need you now, more than ever!
Important Tax Update for Charitable Donations Passed as Part of COVID-19 Stimulus Package (March 2020)
A provision in the CARES Act, the Federal 2.2. trillion dollar stimulus package, encourages Americans to continue their much needed donations to charitable organizations in 2020 by permitting them to deduct up to $300 of cash contributions for non-itemizers.
Another provision of the bill increases the limitations on deductions for charitable contributions by individuals who itemize, as well as corporations. For individuals, the 50 percent of adjusted gross income limitation is suspended for 2020. For corporations, the 10 percent limitation is increased to 25 percent of taxable income.
