When you support Catholic Charities, you help Maine’s most vulnerable populations who are struggling now more than ever —
from friends and neighbors who are now unemployed and facing an uncertain future, to seniors who are isolated and fearful of the virus’ effect on their health, from families now home schooling a child with special needs, to Maine’s newest arrivals who are navigating these complex times after having already experienced trauma in their homelands.
Your donation makes a big difference in providing help and hope during these challenging times and beyond.
Important Tax Update for Charitable Donations Passed as Part of COVID-19 Stimulus Package (March 2020)
A provision in the CARES Act, the Federal 2.2. trillion dollar stimulus package, encourages Americans to continue their much needed donations to charitable organizations in 2020 by permitting them to deduct up to $300 of cash contributions for non-itemizers.
Another provision of the bill increases the limitations on deductions for charitable contributions by individuals who itemize, as well as corporations. For individuals, the 50 percent of adjusted gross income limitation is suspended for 2020. For corporations, the 10 percent limitation is increased to 25 percent of taxable income.
